The Science in Beauty

Updated: Feb 27, 2020

Welcome to Vanity Lab Co., I designed this blog for people like me who are tired of being told you can only be one thing.

So welcome and allow me to introduce myself:

My name is Vanity and I am a wife, daughter, sister, and I am majoring in Medical Molecular Biology. I am in my last semester of my undergraduate degree and I am not applying to any graduate and medical schools, it drives my advisors crazy.

They ask me what my plans are and I used to say I want to be an Endocrinologist or an OBGYN. Which is true, if I planned to stay in the medical field.

Now, I tell them I have entrepreneurial aspirations and they look at me and shake their head.

What they don't see is I have something many of these other students don't. I don't want to sound overconfident, but I have always had a little more flare than other science majors. I am creative, I have a big imagination, and simply consider I myself an artist.

Most days, I am the only student who comes to class with my hair and makeup done. I have never went to class in a pair of sweatpants. All of my notes are always color coordinated and I take drawing pictures of my glass slides under the microscope very seriously. Some may call me "girly", I say I am motivated by style and beauty.

It's important to recognize that.

I have spent the last 4 years studying and developing skills that are so valuable to me.

Science is exciting, it is foundational, and it is one of my greatest passions.

Beauty, is my other passion. I love applying a new face mask and new makeup.

I love high pigment eye shadows, I also love knowing what's in those eye shadows that makes the pigment so bright.

I do not feel as if I am meant to be a doctor, nor do I feel as if I am meant to be a makeup artist. I am somewhere in between.

.

Which is exactly why I am here.

We are never ONE thing. We have multiple roles in our lives so why do we limit our careers?

Beauty today is everywhere, it is broken down into a science with techniques and precision.

Cosmetics are literally made in laboratories with cosmetic chemists across the globe.

There is SCIENCE in BEAUTY.

Science is ever-changing and ever-growing. Science is everywhere, in the ground, in your food, in the air, in your $50 foundation, in your developer your hair stylist just used to create the perfect color for the spring.

There is BEAUTY in SCIENCE.

Is is possible to create an entirely new niche?

Let's find out.

Stop limiting your talents and skills. Apply EVERYTHING. Make yourself HAPPY.

It's 2020, we create the rules.
